Recycling

The construction industry is responsible for 30% of the UK’s regulated waste. The majority of this is generated at the fabrication stage, a proportion during the installation phase and a sizeable amount in the demolition phase. The industry as a whole along with the UK government are insistent on reducing waste throughout the industry and eliminating the usage of toxic materials. We know two things about Aluminium A) it is 100% recyclable and B) It is non-toxic. The property has and will continue to have a huge role to play in the elimination of hazardous materials in the construction industry.

Aluminium is arguably the most sustainable building material in the world and is also highly recyclable

Building Life Evaluation

When costing a project, there is increasingly becoming more of a focus on the longevity of the materials and building as a whole. The physical properties of Aluminium mean that once fitted more durable, lasts longer and is easier to install than steel, timber, and plastic alternatives! Aluminium is very durable and highly resistant to rust and or corrosion caused by modern industrial pollutants and requires very little, long-term maintenance. The life span of aluminium products is measured in decades rather than years!

Carbon footprint

Because of aluminium’s non-toxic, durable and recyclable properties, it has a significantly positive effect on the overall carbon footprint of any building. For modern builds, Aluminium is becoming increasingly prevalent and specified. Ask our AGD team about Aluminium Gutters and their role in creating a more sustainable future in the building trade.

Safety

Due to Aluminium´s non-toxisity, it is a very safe metal to handle and no health-related issues are attributed to its use. The natural oxide of Aluminium does not alter or change the acidity of the water that runs off it and therefore has zero affect on environmental life in the surrounding area. The process in AGD´s powder coating is strictly non-solvent and rigorous testing has been completed and has been UK approved.

Sustainability

Aluminium is considered one of the most sustainable world resources. For this reason, AGD are conscious of raising awareness of its features to make the world a more sustainable place. Extraction is done in an extremely environmentally conscious manner. Smelting is processed using renewable hydroelectric power making the whole process an extremely environmentally friendly procedure. Unlike other products where energy is lost in the creation of the material, aluminium reuses 95% of its energy when being reused.

Environmentally conscious suppliers. That, as ever, is the AGD guarantee!
